Locally owned. Port Augusta based. Built to deliver.
Plumbing, haulage and sand and metal, backed by our own fleet, our own machines and a team that treats every job like their name's on it. Because it is.
Built on serious experience.
Phillips Contracting Solutions is a locally owned plumbing, haulage and sand and metal business based in Port Augusta.
We draw on more than two decades of plumbing and infrastructure experience across South Australia. That background spans domestic and government works, large and small commercial projects from Adelaide through the Mid North and Upper Spencer Gulf, and major installations in the mining and remote sectors including Olympic Dam and Woomera.
That experience shapes how we tender, how we program a job and how we run a site. It is why the business can be trusted on the region's larger commercial and government projects.
From a single plumbing trade, the business has grown into three divisions that work together: plumbing, haulage, and sand and metal supply. A project can move from underground services through to materials supply and cartage under one contractor. That means one point of accountability and control over quality, pricing and program.
We are geared toward commercial and government projects, while keeping a domestic team for the day-to-day local work that built our name. Today the business operates a maintained fleet of plant and trucks, a full-time administration office, and a team of nine and growing.
Vision & mission.
Our vision
We are working toward becoming the region's first-choice contracting team: a plumbing crew builders ask for by name, an established regional haulage operation, and a sand and metal yard the region can rely on.
The wider goal is straightforward. We want to be the company clients turn to when they need work delivered, a particular product supplied, or a problem solved. A permanent yard with a weighbridge and a steadily growing team are the next steps toward it.
Our mission
Day to day, the mission is to deliver the core values without fail. Turn up, do what was agreed, and keep ahead of program. No exceptions. We solve the client's problem properly, rather than the quick way that costs everyone later.
Around that, we want to build a workplace good people want to stay with for the long term, and to be the contractor of choice across the regions we serve. Get those two right and the growth follows.
Integrity. Innovation. Performance.
Three words underpin everything we do, on every job and with every client. They are the standard we measure ourselves against.
Integrity
Our word is the job. We are straight with clients about the right solution, we price honestly, and we stand behind our work long after handover. If we say we'll be there, we are there.
Innovation
We invest in our own gear, systems and people so we can solve problems on site and keep more of the job moving, rather than waiting on someone else.
Performance
Proven on the region's bigger builds. We turn up, keep ahead of program, and deliver work that is done right the first time.
Run like a bigger company, sized like a local one.
We don't carry the ISO certifications a Tier 1 contractor does, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we bring is a real set of systems, run properly on every job and written down as the company grows. They are the same disciplines a larger firm relies on, applied by a team that is still on the tools with you.
Quality systems
Quality on our jobs is managed from the ground up, not signed off at the end. We run our own inspection and test plans on every project, and we work to the builder's ITP and QA process alongside our own, so nothing slips between the two.
Work is checked as it goes, by our own management, by the project engineers, and by the Office of the Technical Regulator where it applies. Our crews are trained and ticketed for exactly what they're doing, and that is the real reason the work gets done right the first time instead of twice.
Where a tender calls for it, we allow for full handover manuals. The client walks away with a complete record of what was installed and how to look after it. As the company grows, that whole framework is being documented into a formal, repeatable quality system.
Safety systems
Safety is the minimum standard on our sites, not a box ticked on the way in. Every worker is in the right PPE, every machine gets a prestart before it turns a wheel, and first-aid kits and extinguishers travel in every vehicle.
Behind the day-to-day, we manage SWMS, pre-task assessments, and site and workplace inductions for the crew, and we hold the checks and licences the work demands, from working-with-children and police checks through to high-risk work and heavy-vehicle licences. Plant is serviced to schedule, with a service history and a risk assessment kept for every machine.
We work to a clear chain of responsibility, and safety is a daily standard rather than a sign-off at the gate. As with our quality framework, our safety policies and procedures are being built into a full company portfolio. The standard is written down and repeatable as the team grows.
Project management
The way we run a job is what brings builders back, and it starts at tender. We price strictly to the drawings and specification so every quote is genuinely comparable, and we put it all into a seven-page tender document that answers the questions before they're asked. Where there's a better long-term solution, we raise it with the builder early, often at tender stage.
On site, the work is planned and resourced to stay ahead of program. Plans are printed to scale and in the hands of the crew, materials are staged with suppliers ready for call-up, and our own haulage handles the deliveries so the trade crews never leave the job. Everything is scheduled and tracked through ServiceM8, which keeps the client, the office and the crew looking at the same picture.
We stand behind the work with a twelve-month defects liability period on commercial projects, because being there after handover is part of doing the job properly.
Plant & resourcing
The business made a deliberate decision early on to own the plant it relies on rather than hire it in. The trucks are ours. The operators are on our payroll. That control is what keeps program, pricing and delivery in our hands rather than a third party's.
Owning the fleet gives the company full command of its plant, trucks, products, pricing and delivery times. When a crew needs a machine or a load of material, it comes from our own yard rather than a hire queue, and every additional vehicle puts another crew on the ground. That capacity is what allows the business to take on the region's larger jobs.
From excavators and skid steers through to side tippers and the materials themselves, the resourcing is in-house and maintained to schedule. It is all aimed at one thing: keeping the client's program moving.
